I happen to have an entire deconstructed wall!.
And his right way was, well….We don’t really want a wobbly chalkboard that could fall down at any second hanging in our daughter’s room.
So here’s what he used!.He got these little inter-locking hanging things from the hardware store.. To make sure the chalkboard would sit flush on the wall, he routed out a section of the frame and put one piece in on each side..The matching pieces got mounted directly on the wall.. Ta-da!.
The finest chalkboard that ever lived!.It looks great in her room with the blue frame and we love knowing that we know that Kennedy and her friends will have years of fun ahead of them leaving messages for each other and writing “so and so wuz here” over and over again..

I admit that I didn’t do much cooking and didn’t really do the best job of feeding them anything other than restaurant food, but we did make this one recipe together one night and it was delicious!.I later learned that this is pretty hard to mess up though!.
The cornice kit that I was using had a 9″ drop (height) total, but they also come in chunkier sizes with 12″ and 15″ drops, so you’d cut wider strips for those sizes.. All I had to do was lay my fabric over the cornice and use the tuck tool to push it into the cracks on the front and the back to secure it in place!I started with the two outer strips and finished off in the middle.
I learned that it’s very forgiving and any extra you have peeking out can be tucked away into the cracks, never to be seen again!.I went for this really simple look, but you can also add in cording, or beading or really any kind of trim you like along the two “seams” in the middle to separate the three sections.
